A very special evening:We are looking forward to celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act this fall. The McBride Nature Center will bring Joe Price and Jim Grier and Stan Temple together to talk about the hawk "Drifter" and the role Joe, Jim, and Stan played in developing artificial insemination techniques in raptors and its contribution to endangered species recovery. You may not know but Joe has been a Falconer since he was a kid. When he hit the road with his first band he donated his Falconry bird "Drifter" to a project that was trying to develop artificial insemination of birds of prey in order to save the Raptors who's population was being decimated by the pesticide DDT in the late '60's early 70's. His bird "Drifter" became the first successfully artificially inseminated bird of prey in the world. Come hear the story from the people involved. It will be fun.
